GPS Mapping Software - Playback GPS Tracks - Tutorial

Introduction

The track playback functional offered by the Eye4Software GPS Mapping Studio software can be useful to check recorded tracks, for demo purposes, or to simulate a real situation to try out the software. You can playback all supported track formats including:

  • GPS Exchange File (.GPX);
  • Maptech Track File (.TXF);
  • Garmin Trainings Centre File (.TCX);
  • Garmin Database File (.GDB);
  • OziExplorer Track File (.PLT);
  • Eye4Software Mapping Studio Project File (.GMS).


Starting the tool

You can start the playback tool by selecting "Track Playback Simulator" from the "Tools" menu. All loaded tracks are displayed in this window, just select the track to play, and click the "Start" button. You can rewind to the beginning of the track any time by clicking the "Rewind" button. To stop playback, click "Stop".

The track is played using a speed of 1 position per second. You can use the "Increase" and "Decrease" buttons to change the playback speed. To reset the speed to default, click the "Default" button.

During the playback, the position information of the playback tool is displayed in the "Navigation Data" display. When a GPS devices is connected, the output of the device is ignored. By closing this tool, normal GPS reception will be resumed.

During track playback, you can record a new track from the simulated track.
