There are two possible reasons for this position error. First make sure you have selected the correct grid for the loaded map. If this seems to be correct, and you are using a raster map, make sure it is correctly calibrated.
If the error still remains, it might be a setting in your GPS receiver. Make sure it is using the correct output format, and the map datum used is WGS84.
