November the 28th, 2011 - Eye4Software Released GPS Mapping Studio 4.1

Today, Eye4Software released GPS Mapping Studio 4.1, formerly known as GPS Mapping Software. The new version of the product now supports elevation datasets, such as SRTM, DEM, GTOPO30, ACE2, Arc/Info Grid Files and more.

Another big improvement is the ability to export vector data in various formats. In previous versions, it was only possible to export to ESRI shape format, while this version allows exporting to Autocad DXF, Atlas BNA and (Google Earth) Keyhole Markup Language.

For a full list of changes, please have a look at the release notes.

September the 27th, 2010 - Eye4Software Released GPS Mapping Software 3.0

GPS Mapping Software version 3.0 has been released. The latest version comes with a completely new user interface and a lot of new features including OpenStreetMap data support.

The biggest change is the user interface of the software. We created a whole new dataview, a windows to manage your project, a GIS data table view and a attribute view. All these views are dockable windows and can be hidden if they are not needed.

The software can now be used as a GIS viewer. When using DXF, ESRI ShapeFiles or OpenStreetMap XML data, just click on an object to view its attributes such as layer, shape type, color and more.

The number of map projections has been increased from 1500, to more then 3000. It is now also possible to modify, delete and add map projections.

For a full list of changes, please have a look at the release notes.

July the 21th, 2010 - Eye4Software Released GPS Toolkit 3.2

The latest version of the GPS Toolkit, version 3.2, is available for download now.

It is now possible to do UTM conversions without the need to specify the EPSG code of this UTM grid. You only have to set the map datum that is used, the zone number is calculated internally. The new functions for this are 'GpsProjection.ToUTM' and 'GpsProjection.FromUTM'.

Several miscellaneous GPS tools are offered by the newly introduced 'GpsUtilities' object. You can now use the GPS Toolkit to do unit conversions, distance and azimuth calculations and latitude/longitude string parsing and formatting.

The 'GpsDatumParameters' and 'GpsGridParameters' now contain functions to list all the build in map datums and map grids, so you can populate the selection boxes in your own software with these names. For more information about this, refer to the 'GpsDatumParameters.GetFirstDatum', 'GpsDatumParameters.GetNextDatum', 'GpsGridParameters.GetFirstGrid' and 'GpsGridParameters.GetNextGrid' function in the manual.

You can now parse NMEA data which is not received from the GPS, but from a file, socket or stream. For more information about this, please have a look at the 'Gps.Parse' function in the manual.

February the 4th, 2010 - Eye4Software Released Coordinate Calculator 2.4

You can now download version 2.4 of the Coordinate Calculator. The main improvement is the database, containing the map grids, map datums and ellipsoids. The database now contains over 4000 definitions and covers almost any coordinate system on the earth. All definitions in the database are now referenced by their EPSG code, allowing you to find them easier. It is now also possible to specify a prime meridian in the map datum definition, allowing you to use grids that use another prime meridian then Greenwich. Two more projections have been added: Lambert Conformal Conic West Orientated, this projection is mainly used in Greenland, Iceland and the Faroe Islands. For Souther Africa, we added the Transverse Mercator South Orientated projection. For more information, please visit the Eye4Software Coordinate Calculator product page.

November the 6th, 2009 - Eye4Software Released GPS Toolkit 2.4

Today we released version 2.4 of the GPS Toolkit. Because these days Garmin GPS devices are shipped with an USB cable only, we decided to add support for the Garmin USB PVT protocol. When using a Garmin GPS device, you not longer have to buy either a serial cable, or some piece of software that converts the PVT data to NMEA data on a virtual serial port. The GPS toolkit communicates directly with Garmin's USB driver. We also add the following features for coordinate conversions: new projections (Krovak and Lambert Azimuthal Equal Area) and support for different units, including foot, mile, chain and link. For more information, please visit the Eye4Software GPS Toolkit product page.

October the 21st, 2009 - Eye4Software Released Coordinate Calculator 2.2

The latest version of the Eye4Software Coordinate Calculator, version 2.2, offers a lot of new features including: new projections (Krovak and Lambert Azimuthal Equal Area), an improved user interface, batch processing of conversions, support for different units, including foot, mile, chain and link and distance calculations. The database shipped with this version now contains over 1200 grid definitions. For more information, please visit the Eye4Software Coordinate Calculator product page.

May the 29th, 2009 - Eye4Software Released GPS Toolkit 2.2

Because of new features, we decided to release a new version of the Eye4Software GPS Toolkit. It is now possible to convert the latitude or longitude position received from the GPS, to a map datum or map grid of your choice. Using this new feature you can for instance convert your GPS position directly to UTM coordinates. These functions are implemented in a separate onbject, making it possible to convert the received GPS coordinates as well as coordinates that are entered manually. For more information, please visit the Eye4Software GPS Toolkit product page.

May the 15th, 2009 - Eye4Software Released Coordinate Calculator 2.1

Today, Eye4Software B.V. Released its first version (2.1) of the Coordinate Calculator. Using this small, easy to use application, you can perform map datum and map projection translations on single coordinates, or multiple coordinates, for instance from a textfile. All ellipsoid, map datum and map projection parameters are stored in an Access database shipped with the application. All these parameters can be modified from the software, allowing you to modify these definitions, or add new ones. For more information, please visit the Eye4Software Coordinate Calculator product page.

February the 14th, 2009 - Eye4Software Released GPS Toolkit 2.1

Today, Eye4Software B.V. Released its first version (2.1) of the GPS Toolkit. Using this toolkit, software developers can add GPS support to their applications with a blink of an eye. Receiving GPS updates can be done by just adding 8 lines of code to your script or application. The only thing to do is: Set the serial device, start the parser, and latitude and longitude information will be available anywhere in your application. For more information, please visit the Eye4Software GPS Toolkit product page.
